SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE AND OUR MINISTRY KIDS ARE EXCITED!They are looking forward to spending fun-filled days with friends at the Lion’s Den center, going to summer camp, working on some service projects, and having as many great adventures as we can provide for them! Some of them would stay at the Lion’s Den 24/7 if we let them!
Even in the midst of controlled chaos and constant activity at the Den, there is a peace and a ‘Presence’ surrounding us that the kids do not experience at home, and they are well aware of that fact. If they didn’t have the Lion’s Den, many of them would spend long, unsupervised summer days, often on the streets, encountering every imaginable temptation and danger.
Those of us in leadership also look forward to summer and the kids being away from the pressures and environment they face at school. Their spiritual growth and the strengthening of relationships is our primary focus during the summer. We do all we can to ‘detox’ them while they are out of school…you would be shocked at all that surrounds them on their inner-city campuses!
Summer is a time when new kids seem to find their way to the Lion’s Den and become part of our family. I always believe they find us by Divine appointment, and none of them are here by accident. Jesus has a plan and a purpose for each one, and we are privileged to be part of it.
